Hi, I’m Ketaki and I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Much like seeking other professional help, be it hiring an attorney or an accountant, we all need extra support from time-to-time. I’m glad you are here, exploring counseling support for whatever your circumstances might be.

My Journey so far

I grew up in a collectivistic culture in India - Bengaluru and Pune were the places I stayed the longest. I was surrounded by family. I experienced the joys of having an incredible support system, and on the flip side, the challenges of navigating gender and cultural expectations. Learning to manage the tension of staying connected to my community while remaining true to myself is a work in progress. I understand the need to set boundaries in this important work.

Moving to the States a few years ago has opened my eyes to people from different cultures, religions, lifestyles, and linguistic backgrounds. I love the diversity, but I also know that it takes effort to integrate these varied experiences into my life story. Because of this, I have a special interest in working with first and second generation immigrants struggling to manage different cultural expectations in their families without losing their personhood in the mix.

My professional background

I graduated with my B.A. in Liberal Arts, with an emphasis in Psychology and a minor in Business Studies, from Symbiosis International University in India. After a gap year, I moved to the States to get my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Syracuse University in New York. My experience includes academic mentorship, and counseling in community health centers and outpatient settings, where I provided strengths-based, short-term individual therapy.

Clinical interests & languages spoken

Aside from cultural identity work, I have a clinical interest in helping stressed out overachievers, and people with mood disorders or trauma. I see teens 15+ and adults. I am fluent in, and can provide counseling in English, Hindi and Marathi.

How I work/life balance

I love to read and take on artistic endeavors! I’m constantly in the process of working up the courage to start my next big crochet project, be it a blanket, a pair of socks, or a stuffed animal. I love watching movies and TV shows. If you enjoy fiction literature, then I’m your girl! I’m a homebody, but also enjoy exploring the great outdoors (occasionally). There is so much beauty and adventure all around us! Next on the agenda is Southern California!

Enough about me. What about you? Tell me about your interests and passions! I want to know what brings you joy, and what brings you tension. I’d love to help you find balance and integrate drastically different cultures and identities that are all you!
